Amusement Ride for a Bug!

When we were asked to bring in a whole bunch of office supplies as groups, we would have never thought we were going to make an amusement ride, let alone for a bug! After some brainstorming, me and my group decided to make a slingshot-like ride for a grub worm, since they are envious of caterpillars that turn into butterflies and can then fly. Since a grub worm can never fly, we thought it would be a thrill of its life if it could experience the joy of flying for a few seconds.

The materials we used:
2 large pieces of cork board
Colored pencils
Painter's tape
Thumb tacks
Straight pins
Bull clips
Glue stick cap
Paper clips
Post-its
Rubber bands
Scotch Tape
Scissors

We made the poles from 4 colored pencils covered in tape and held together by thumb tacks. The container for the bug was the glue cap and the launching point was a bull clip held together with paper clips. We added wings made from post -its to the glue cap, so that the worm could feel like it was a butterfly for a few seconds.

The End Result?

METAMORPHOSIS- A pseudo-flying ride
